Lincoln-Way West Music Tri-M Chapter

Picture
2021-2022 Application
What is Tri-M?
Tri-M is a Music Honor Society started by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).  It is a great way to link the entire music department in an honor society to help the community as well as provide for additional performing and social outlets.  Worldwide, there are more than 30,000 senior and junior division chapters.

How do I become a member of Tri-M?
Follow the link in the e-mail to fill out the application on Google Docs. Submit the application by September 8th. Applicants who meet all criteria will receive an acceptance letter later this fall.

What are the commitments once I become a member?
You will be required to do community service hours as a member.  These will be non-traditional service hours.  Since this is a music honor society, you will be required to do something musical.  Perhaps volunteer your time teaching junior high students lessons on their instrument, ushering at a music department concert, performing music at a nursing or retirement home, etc.  The possibilities are endless and very open to many different ideas among the members. You will be required to complete 4 hours of musical community service each semester you are an active member.  Hours may carry over from semester to semester.

What else will Tri-M do?
That is up to the Executive Board and its members.  This group at Lincoln-Way West will be what YOU make of it!  Aside from service hours, this will be an opportunity for you to expand your musical experiences by attending musicals, the Chicago Symphony, etc.  In addition to helping the community, it is a great way to socialize in a musical atmosphere for ALL music students.

Who is invited?
Those students that possess all of the traits that a Tri-M member should have completed the application, be serious about spreading music into the community, and being apart of a group that will foster new friendships.  There will not be a "quota" of numbers and will accept all those that are qualified.

Requirements for application:

1.Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior and have been and are currently in a music ensemble (bands, choirs, guitar ensemble, orchestra) for at least ONE year at Lincoln-Way.
2.Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and received no grade lower than an A in any music classes.
3.Must complete the online application for membership.

Requirements of selected Members:

2.Do 4 service hours per semester.
3.Participate in various events that Tri-M will sponsor.
4.Be available for an induction ceremony that will be held in on November 14 at 6:30 p.m.
5.You must keep up on your hours and meetings or you will be dropped from the organization.
